August 8, 2009 Nagito received his invitation letter to attend Hope’s Peak as the very first Ultimate Lucky Student while he was bedridden in hospital.
Just when Hajime had given up the thought on attending Hope’s Peak, a month after the invitation letters were sent, registration for the first batch of the Reserve Course School opened.
Nagito joined Hope’s Peak’s class 77-B while Hajime joined Reserve Course’s class 1-A.
Hajime lived in his parents’ apartment few train stops away from Hope’s Peak, while Nagito lived in a dorm exclusive to the Ultimates in the south quarter of Hope’s Peak complex.
The short distance from Hope’s Peak complex entrance to the fountain in central plaza was usually the only time they encountered each other. From there, Hajime took the west path to the Reserve Course School area and Nagito took the east path to Hope’s Peak Main School area.
They had some interactions through their friendship with Chiaki but didn’t acknowledge each other. They also never called each other by name (It was always just “Oi” or “Hey, you!”).
Hajime felt inferior towards the Ultimates while Nagito had no interest in interacting with ordinary people.
Nagito was suspended shortly after Hajime dropped out and agreed to be Kamukura Project subject, so neither was aware of the other’s disappearance.

They weren’t attracted to each other yet. This Hajime liked Chiaki. While Hajime caught Nagito’s eyes, his prejudice was too strong to see him in a romantic way.

July 23, 2010 The deadline to sign the project consent form was the last day before summer break. Hajime and his parents signed the form and then he dropped out from Reserve Course.
July 26, 2010 → April 2, 2011 Hajime spent eight months undergoing brainwashing and preparation for the surgery.
April 3, 2011 The day before new school year ceremony, Hajime underwent the operation that turned him into Izuru. He spent his time underground before he met Junko Enoshima.
October 4, 2010 → October 4, 2011 During his suspension, Nagito traveled from place to place. He hadn’t planned to travel, but he always ended up in various places. He returned exactly a year later during Student Council Massacre and class 77-B graduation.
Extracurricular clubs in Hope’s Peak were ran by students. Some clubs even had members from both school, though the rule that Reserve Course students can’t enter or use Main School facilities still apply.
📸 Mahiru (and Natsumi) were in photography club. The club is very lax and located outside of Main School area so members from both school can interact freely.
🏹 Archery club is one of the prestigious club. Main and Reserve Course have their own club. Sato and few students council from Main School were in archery club.
🎶 Anime and Music clubs were open to anyone, though the weirdness of the Main School members drove away Reserve Course students.
Hajime and Nagito didn’t participate in any after school activities, though Hajime was offered the position of treasurer in Reserve Course student council.
💪 Peko and Sakura were in different rival dojo.

Hope’s Peak Academy Complex
Hope‘s Peak Academy‘s complex is shaped like a large diamond. It‘s divided into four quarters: East, West, South and North, each quarter is the size of a full-scale regular high-school. [Source: DR0]
