August 19, 2013 Under the protection of Future Foundation’s 14th Branch, the survivors of the Killing School Trip were permitted to stay on Jabberwock for a limited time before facing trial to determine the punishments for the crimes they committed as Remnants of despair.
Hajime, who possessed the talent of the three creators of New World Program, reverse engineered the simulation in order to save his friends who are killed in the simulation. The other survivors chose to stay in Jabberwock to assist him with the revival.

The boat carrying New World Program and the pods were originally docked at Jabberwock Fifth Island Military Port. After the survivors woke up, they sailed the boat to First Island and settled there.
Jabberwock was destroyed from the tragedy. The survivors had to survive without support from the outside world. They scavenged for foods and supplies, clean and repair for shelters.
As more people woken up, life on the island became easier and lively. There are some tension between victims and their killers, but most were settled during their time there.

Victims generally woke up faster than killers who faced execution. The severity of despair they had also influenced the speed. Mahiru and Ibuki woke up right after Hajime done reverse engineering NWP. The rest woke up over the span of 6 months.
Only Nagito, a victim, had yet to wake up.

There were no signs of Nagito waking up even after a month had passed since Mikan, the person with the most severe despair woken up. His brain had already been revived, but he remained in a comatose state. Time limit is nearly up and Hajime decided to dive into Nagito’s consciousness to find the root of the problem.

After diving into Nagito’s consciousness, Hajime started to understand him and his actions more clearly. He began to believe he might be able to help him recover, to keep him from spiraling into psychotic break like he did in the simulation.

As soon as Nagito woke up, Hajime performed surgery to remove the rotting arm from him. His arm would eventually recover, though it left a large scar.
Kazuichi crafted Nagito a mechanical arm from ship scraps and dead monokuma laying around.
Afterward, Class 77-B departed.
